Hi, I'm Hillary! I’m a freelance art director, senior graphic designer & illustrator based in Barcelona, Spain.
I specialise in visual brand creation from scratch and development or elevation of your existing brand - whether you're just getting started as a solopreneur or small business, or you are pivoting or refreshing your offering. I can lead you through the process of visual brand identity creation or overhaul from the ground up.
From image research, marketing and copywriting, to graphic designer and art director to artist and surface designer, my skills and experience enable me to visualise, execute and strategise your band story.
I started my career 18 years ago, working in editorial and brand design. From there I’ve had the pleasure of working with global brands in the fashion and luxury sector in London and Sydney, Australia. I’ve art directed magazines in travel, lifestyle, B2B and tech.
My branding experience covers logo and all other aspects of visual brand identity design. From brand creation, elevation or re-direction, to rollouts for print and digital communication channels from printed documents, packaging, to event displays, social media and strategy, web design and digital marketing.
When it comes to branding, I love working with small business. Working with someone with an idea, helping to bring it to life for the first time, or taking an existing brand and elevating it to its full potential inspires me. It's why I love what I do!
I create artwork with bright, vibrant colours, inspired by the natural world, botanicals and pop culture, working mainly with watercolours and digital hand drawn art.
I’m originally from Australia but now I live in beautiful Barcelona with my husband, two sons, two cats and a rescue dog. After a fifteen year career as an art director/ graphic designer I found myself looking for change. I wanted to escape that world of commercialism and instead tell stories through my art. I've since discovered I can do both!
I focus my work on subjects that reflect my personal passions- from the beauty of nature, to scuba diving the world to a sneaky Gin & Tonic. Part life, part imagination - It’s fibre based fiction!
I love working with watercolours for their vibrant pigments and colour blooms, and the variety of techniques you can use in layers to create certain effects that complement each subject.
